Ontario Centres of Excellence launch new programs

Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) has launched two new programs geared to support the career ambitions of young people either as young entrepreneurs building a business or as students or graduates seeking valuable real-world experience working with industry.

The TalentEdge program provides Ontario students and recent graduates with real-world experience, enabling interns and postdoctoral fellows to apply their expertise and the latest tools to industry problems. Being managed by Ontario Centres of Excellence on behalf of the Government of Ontario, TalentEdge represents a $10-million investment and key component of Ontario’s Youth Jobs Strategy. – See more at: www.oce-ontario.org/programs/collaborative-commercialization/talentedge#sthash.n1PhtmhW.dpuf.

The program has two components:

  • TalentEdge Internship Program (TIP) provides support for college and university students (undergraduate and graduate), recent graduates (up to three years) and master students to work on collaborative industry-driven projects across all disciplines and areas of specialization. The intern is considered the lead applicant. A contributing industry partner is required for university, college and company-based internships. Post-Doctoral (PDFs) must apply through the TalentEdge Fellowship Program.
  • TalentEdge Fellowship Program (TFP) provides support for Ontario-based Postdoctoral Fellows (PDFs) to work on industry-driven research and development projects. This program is open to PDFs across all disciplines and areas of specialization. Fellowships may be university or company based. The PDF is considered the lead applicant. A contributing industry partner is required for both university and company-based fellowships.
